It's the most difficult and most rewarding job I've ever had. Which is saying quite a bit, as I was a neurosurgeon before joining.

I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to do both. I've lent my medical knowledge to the Corps on numerous occasions to save the lives of my fellow officers.

Yes, that was part of Mr. Crane's motivation in setting up a private practice. Many people would rather stay injured than be worked on by drone doctors. He's also taken the plight of female doctors into account, as this town apparently forbids women from doing anything more complicated than secretarial work.

The Capitalist society, the disgusting amount of misplaced pride they have here for their country. The fact that no one realizes what horrible things America is while he goes around calling himself a hero. Also the cigars are just garbage.

Too much pride can certainly be a dangerous thing. My own planet has seen the results of that sort of excess more recently than most of us like to admit.
